PROOF OF POWER (3)
(…continued from part two…)
*3*
The word ‘power,’ in Ephesians 1:19 is dunamis (doo’-nam-is) meaning: ‘a latent force (literally or figuratively),’ and a pointer to the fact that only God has miraculous power. This dunamis is an insuperable power wrought only by the Almighty. The abstract ‘working,’ energeia (en-erg’-i-ah), explains the efficiency in this terrifically extraordinary energy when HE decides to go into work at the sight of man’s faith, which ignites a nonpareil efficacy of His strength. ‘Mighty,’ ischus (is-khoos’), teaches the astronomical ability in the forceful strength of Jehovah’s might. Ischus is the raw strength of His Omnipotence. The unprecedented marvel of omnipotent capabilities. While dunamis explains the latency of God’s omnipotent power, this other ‘power,’ kratos (krat’-os): “great” vigor (literally or figuratively) explains HIS great strength. It is intended to enable an envisioning of the mind blowing muscles of His physical strength. Visible strength. Imagine biceps as huge as the Himalayas!
From Adam Clarke’s Commentary on Ephesians 1:19 is: “MIGHT, ισχυς, is the state or simple efficiency of this attribute in God; POWER, κρατος, is this might or efficiency in action; ENERGY, ενεργεια, is the quantum of force, momentum, or velocity, with which the power is applied. Though they appear to be synonymous terms they may be thus understood: passive power is widely different from power in action; and power in action will be in its results according to the energy or momentum with which it is applied.”
WITH GOD, IT’S POSSIBLE!
God does not just display a whimsical proof of power. For an eternal good He has always shown His salvaging hand. All these demonstration of His power is not for the fun of it. Of immense interest is the fact that all this show of power is directed at a certain species of His treasured entities. Paul said, “to us-ward who believe,” so who are the ‘us?’ They are in the preceding verse. “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” [Ephesians 1:18].
‘Inheritance’ is the Greek klēronomia (klay-ron-om-ee’-ah): a noun feminine which means ‘heirship, that is, (concretely) a patrimony or (generally) a possession.’ God has got for Himself a patrimony; in what? Of course in the saints. The word ‘saints’ hagios (hag’-ee-os), is: ‘most holy thing, a saint. From ἅγος hagos (an awful thing) sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated).’ The saints are the born again Christians. Eight Godly souls would not suffer annihilation by the Deluge, expressive of the LORD’s fury. They were the antediluvian saints. Kept in the ark, which means treasure, they were an inheritance of God whose Word they kept in their hearts that they might not sin against His holiness -they became God’s sacred property. Amen.
The Church is a woman, hence, the Spirit would lead Paul to choose a grammatical feminine ‘inheritance’ to teach His treasure. Seeing Jesus as a precious stone, God’s business acumen made Him to sell all He had to purchase the humanity of Jesus for the work of salvation. Remember God had to use all His power to save the dead Jesus so as to gain more treasures in Christians. In the antediluvian age eight souls marked the beginning of God’s ownership of a treasured people. In the Old Testamentary days He had a remnant as Moses wrote: “For the LORD’S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance” [Deuteronomy 32:9].
And this is the most important of all species of the Homo sapiens: “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” [Galatians 4:7]. Are you a born again Christian? Then you are the apple of God’s eye. You are the very reason why He had to demonstrate all these powers, just to woo you to be His Bride. Amen!
THE INCREDIBLE INCARNATION OF JEHOVAH: JESUS!
You can enjoy the fullness of God’s power by getting born again. say this prayer, believing it with all your heart:
Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe in my heart that Jesus died for my sins and You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, and I receive Him as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory, Amen.
