SPIRIT RELEVANCE (Part Four)

 (…continued from part three)

In a widening of the scope of His relevance Matthew 28:19 recorded “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” the very words of our Lord, Jesus. Is the Father, God? Does John 1:1 call Jesus, the Word of God? If it takes only the Deity to commence the work of spiritual rejuvenation and the Holy Spirit is involved, then, He is a Personage. Amen.

I do not know of how a one, purported to be an insentient being, could have the capability to search the heart of man in order to aid an effective prayer. Let us look at the prayer perspective in scripture. Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” The preposition ‘in’ is en (en): ‘A primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), that is, a relation of rest.’ Only God can give rest, which has its location in the Spirit.

Great-Commission

“Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high

An intelligent and acceptable discourse with the Father in heaven can only be achieved with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:27, “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” The phrase ‘maketh intercession,’ entugchanō (en-toong-khan’-o) as explained by Thayer Definition: ‘to go to or meet a person, especially for the purpose of conversation, consultation, or supplication’. And according to Strong’s Definition: ‘to chance upon, that is, (by implication) confer with; by extension to entreat (in favor or against).’ The preceding verse of Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” The uttered groans, as gibberish as they sound, happen to be the composition of the Holy Spirit. How can He know God’s design and consequently order our tongues to unlock it with the groaning keys? He is God. That is the relevance.

Spirit

Galatians 4:6 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” The word ‘sons’ is uihos (hwee-os’), the highest form of the five (brephos, nepios, paidion, teknon and huios) types of sonship. Our spiritual infirmities hinder holy discourse, so, the Spirit, resident in us, puts the correct and perfect words in our mouths, ensuring that we do not ask amiss. The Divinity would not be caught in a lowbrow soliloquizing state. He (the Holy Spirit), therefore, speaks to Himself (i.e. the Father) by using my vocal cord; the Father answers back and the holy beat of divine discourse goes sweetly on! What does that make me? I become the vehicular agent of divine tête-à-tête, of course! The Holy Ghost is a Person. He helps to build our faith as the Bible points out in Jude 1:20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” As Christians we are triply protected by the Father, Son and the Spirit. The Bible makes this clear.

Jesus-Great-Commission-1

The great commission: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one” [1John 5:7]. The word ‘one’ is: heis (hice): ‘numeral one, also serves as neuter.’ The oneness goes beyond mental concordance among them, the Spirit being One of Them –who also wields a mental discretion. The gender neutrality is of essence: The three are of transcendent essence of immanence and of eternity. 1Corinthians 2:13, “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” It is, for this reason, not difficult to understand His pedagogic role, I believe. This is what 1Corinthians 12:3 says, “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” Amen!                               (…to be concluded…)
