2)            I have heard unscriptural, fairy tale teachings of four angels holding the earth in position. This cannot be. Why? It says of Jesus in Colossians 1:16-17 16) “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” The Greek for ‘consist’ is sunistaō (soon-is-tah’-o): ‘to place together, to set in the same place, to bring or band together.’ The Creator is the only miracle Worker.

                Knowing that nothing is too hard for Him, sometimes He waits until one has lost all hopes, and completely distraught, then the LORD makes the miracle of divine entrance. At age sixty-five, who would expect Sarai to exhibit a showstopping sublimity of pulchritude? The same woman, the wife of Abram, could not produce any life from her matrix. There is every reason to believe that she had married Abram fifteen to twenty-five years earlier. God had blessed them with riches and honour. Divine protection was well over them and all their belongings. So desperate for the fruit of the womb they were, to the extent of disbelieving God’s promise of Genesis 12:2 “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing” and Genesis 13:16; 15:5.

Hagar and Ishmael

                Was it God that told Sarai to marry Hagar to Abram? It cannot be God. It was the same old dragon of Eden who came to Sarai and was able to make her tread on the path of abject disbelief. She managed, like that Woman of Eden, to make her husband accept an idea quite contrary to God’s will and promise. Thank God that He had envisaged this Adamic fax pas. The LORD God’s eternal foreknowledge had decided to use an unblemished quadrupedal as substitutionary sacrifice. In the case of Abram, God, Who had decided to involve every Adamic race in the soteriological quiddity, found it expedient to bring in Ham of Africa through Hagar of Egypt into the Abrahamic covenant. God’s word had gone forth to bless Abram, ergo, His divine word must come to pass. God is too resourceful to fail. It was no big deal instructing Abram to “cast out this bond woman and her son” (Genesis 21:10).

                God waited till Sarah grew past biological age of ovulation. Genesis 18:11-12 11) “Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12) Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” There is absolutely no biological way, as far as scientific fecundity is involved, that this couple could bask in the satiety of procreation. It was this scare that Satanism threw in the heart of Sarai that made her opt for Hagar’s matrix: the proof of an unbelieving heart, which Abram’s stupidity allowed. God must prove His puissance.

God made His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

                When everything around them protested vigorously against the possibility, Jehovah rose to make nonsense of impossibilities. They were well stricken in their ages. Sarai’s procreative machinery had completely died. Time was most unfavorable to childbearing for them. What did God do? He ignited the feasibility of bârâ, the Hebrew word for ‘create – out of nothing’. God called that which is not as if it was. He must do things in style. It was a must for Sarah’s dead body to respond to the power of bârâ; leading to the bundle of laughter in Abraham’s household.

                Who showed Joseph all those dreams? Who empowered him with the accuracy of dreams interpretations? It is the LORD God, Who had made covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Why would the Architect of Joseph’s destiny allow him to go through all those harrowing experiences, knowing full well that Joseph could have been killed? It is because the LORD God, knowing that He is always in perfect control, there is, absolutely, nothing too hard for Him. To prove His puissance over all things God gave Joseph up to Pharaoh’s most dangerous officer, Potiphar, called in the Hebrew tongue tabbâch (tab-bawkh’): ‘properly a butcher; hence a life guardsman (because acting as executioner).’ Potiphar, who will do everything to guard the life of the Pharaoh, should not be the one Joseph should attempt to sleep with his wife. Jehovah Jireh had seen to Joseph’s safety: in style. Everything Satan tried to arouse Potiphar to anger with the sole aim of killing Joseph bore no fruit. At the end of it all, Potiphar and his malicious wife bowed before the son of Jacob, Prime Minister Joseph, their whilom slave.

                Getting born again is a conscious effort on the part of an individual. Get born again. Say this sinner’s prayer.

“Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!”
