The Christ, the eternal Word of God, became a man; He could only become what, from the eternality of the past, He was not. From the eternal past Jesus Christ was God, face to face with the Father, as the couch of the first verse means. These epithets –Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace – point, unquestionably, to the Deity of Jesus.
