TRINITY OF THE GODHEAD (7)
“King of kings and Lord of lords” is epithetic of Jesus and of the Father. 1Timothy 6:15 “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;” is of the Father. Other corroborative verses are 1Ti 1:17; Psa 47:2; Psa 83:18; Jer 10:10; Jer 46:18; Dan 2:44-47; Dan 4:34 and Mat 6:13. Jesus as the ‘King of kings is found in Revelation 19:16 “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Supportive scriptures are Rev 1:5 and 17:14. If Christ has the visibility of it written on Him, what is the evidential reality of the Father being so? Revelation 4:4, “And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.”
The ‘throne’ on which sat the Eternal Father is the Greek thronos (thron’-os): ‘From θράω thraō (to sit); a stately seat (“throne”); by implication power or (concretely) a potentate.’ The twenty-four elders sat on ‘seats’ which in the Greek is also thronos. Two seats of thrones: one has the occupation of the Eternal Father, in the eternal representative capacity of the Godhead. The elders sit on thrones as well, representing the triumphant Church: for does it not say of Christians ‘a royal priesthood’ of 1Peter 2:9 and ‘kings and priests’ in Revelation 1:6 & 5:10? Each one of them has a crown on his head. This ‘crown’ is not diadēma (dee-ad’-ay-mah) ‘a diadem, an ornamental headband worn as a badge of royalty, (or simply put) a ribbon.’
This ‘crown’ is stephanos (stef’-an-os), meaning: ‘From an apparently primary “stepho” (to twine or wreathe); a chaplet (as a badge of royalty, a prize in the public games or a symbol of honor generally; but more conspicuous and elaborate than the simple fillet, diadēma).’ Now, this is what makes the Father ‘King of kings.’ When the four angels pronounce the deifying canticles of the Father, the twenty-four elders remove their stephanos, lie prostate before Father, the ‘King of kings.’ Amen!
The One of the 3rd Heaven throne sits in the Holy of Holies
The Holy Spirit, if it is not forgotten, sat in the holiest compartment of the Jerusalem Temple. He sat in the holy of holies not only as the God of Israel but also as Jehovah, the political Head of the Jewish theocratic government. Israel had kings. Judah had kings and nations were ruled by kings. The One behind the second veil, the Holy Spirit, the energising force behind creationism, sat there as the King of kings. I do not expect the spirit of gainsaying not to take steps of facileness in asking where the thronos of the Holy Spirit and that of the Christ are, seeing that each of the elders do have a throne.
The answer, found in glorious asseveration of Jesus in John 17:10, “And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them;” is of general application. Jesus is there on the thronos, duly sharing in the Divinity of the Father’s majesty. Seven is God’s number of perfection. The seven fires burning eternally before the throne, is the perfection persona of the Holy Spirit. He could not have sat for centuries, to receive worship, in the holiest of all compartments of the Jerusalem Temple and not be a Living Entity. The high priest must approach the third and most holy place with the sacrificial blood in his hands. He must not make any mistake if he intended to be the officiating minister the following year. To show the atoning blood in his hands to a ‘lifeless wind,’ as Jehovah’s Witness people would have us believe, is tantamount to sheer idolatry!
The High Priest went in there to represent the entire nation of Israel for the forgiveness of the year’s transgressions. He stood sacerdotally before the unseen Jehovah Elohim and the Holy Spirit duly accepted the oblational approach. Without Him there is no Church administration. God’s thoughts came alive in the minds of Bible writers to checkmate any contradictory scripting of the word of God because He inspired them. Only God knows the mind of God. The Holy Spirit (i.e. the burning lamp of Rev. 4:5) is there in the celestial throne room to purify God’s word seven times. He is the lamp to our righteous feet before the LORD. The fire wraps us up in the righteous zeal for the Lord’s use.
The verity of the Godhead sits the Eternal Father on the throne.
Through the macrocosmic truism of creationism, in the corporeality of the Godhead traverses the Saviour, Lord Jesus.
Filling to the brim, the entire universe and creation, and to an overflowing is, yet of HIM, the Third Member, the Holy Spirit.
Who among the three Members of the Godhead is greater or the greatest? “None!” is the answer. Theologically, they are one. They are one worshipful God. Let us pray the prayer of 2Corinthians 13:14 which says,“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” Did I hear someone conclude the prayer with, “…be with us all?” Amen!
