IS THE LORD GOD THE AUTHOR OF MORAL EVIL? (three)
(Continued from part two…)
3) The Bible says, “God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” God is too holy to be tempted into enticing us to do bad things. The reason why God cannot lie is simply because He is inherently truthful from eternity past. No evil is found in Him. For this reason He will sit in heaven to judge Lucifer, the fallen angels, demons and hell bound humanity. This is one thought provoking question I should expect from human philosophical conjecture. Why did He harden Pharaoh’s heart, as if Pharaoh was not given an opportunity to change?
Pharaoh heard the word of God and saw God’s miracles, yet, he refused a quiet and peaceful settlement from the Divinity. God does not play with His word. He guards it jealously. Psalm 138:2, “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” The worst affront is disobedience to the Word of God. How can God be the Personification of love and decide to mess with our lives? It does not add up theologically according to scripture. Amen!
Dangers of its portentousness:
*It makes God the Author of moral evil.
Some will argue that even if God decides to commit any crime He will go scot free and nothing will happen, simply because none can challenge His will. Just as He cannot lie (Titus 1:2), it is with this understanding we should see His infallibility and upright integrity. God cannot, and will not be guilty of any evil act. 1John 4:8, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” If God, according to this verse, is essentially love, how can He do or solicit evil? After all He, as love, “Doth not behave itself unseemly,…thinketh no evil” [1Corinthians 13:5]. Let us look at 1John 4:8 where we have ‘loveth’ which is: agapaō (ag-ap-ah’-o): ‘Perhaps from ἄγαν agan (much); to love (in a social or moral sense). {Agapaō‘ is the verb form of agapē ̄}. God’s love, from the understanding of agapē, is unconditional. ‘Knoweth’ is: ginōskō (ghin-oce’-ko) ‘to learn to know, come to know (absolutely).’
The knowledge of God comes from showing true, unconditional love. Now, the auxiliary ‘is’ in Greek, is: esti (es-tee’) [Third person singular present indicative of eimi (i-mee’) to be, to exist]; he (she or it) is.’ Agapē (ag-ah’-pay) is ‘love,’ meaning: ‘brotherly love, affection, good will, love, benevolence love feasts.’ What does John mean by saying, “God is love?” The Greek definitions clearly means that, God’s existence is nothing but pure, true, unconditional Agapē.
Lucifer, the Devil, is the father of lies: author of evil.
*It makes God as guilty as Lucifer.
The LORD God “Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth”[1Corinthians 13:6]. The Devil will have every right to his evil perpetration if God should commit just one tiny evil. Lucifer’s defence will be, “The One of the throne is not less guilty!” Jesus went about doing only good deeds. The Devil could not find one evil thing in Jesus (John 14:30). God is, will never be guilty of any wrongful act. Holiness is of the LORD God. God, I thank You so much for being too good and too smart to commit any blundersome act. Hallelujah!
For I, the LORD, Am Holy
*God loses holiness, becoming a sinner.
Jesus was categorically pellucid when He touched on the perfection of His holiness: “……for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” [John 14:30]. God must approach the bench of equity with clean hands. His blood must remain sinless to the perfection of soteriological mandate. He must continue in this holiness to be truly God. One single, tiny inconsequentially looking sin will destroy all chances of getting another person born again. The Book of Leviticus chapter 20 in verse 26 reads, “And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.” The Apostle, in 1Peter 1:15 enjoins, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” HIS holiness will certainly not allow Him to as much as think evil. Amen!
Rid your mind of unscriptural thoughts. Get born again. Say this simple prayer, believing it with all your heart. Say:
“Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!”
