Why Was Adam Created Naked? (one)
“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 2:25).
1) The very second of his creation, Adam, our pristine father, was already an adult. The LORD God had deposited not only sagacious erudition of a professor in him, from the time of Adamic creation, Adam had what it took to live sinlessly forever. Why would a respectable adult not mind walking through his place of abode in stark nakedness? Nakedness, spiritually, is not unconnected to deficiency. But the truth is that Adam, even in the starkness of his nakedness, was absolutely not in deficiency, be it spiritual, moral and intellectualism. He was made in wholly perfection. The only difference seen in this intelligent free moral agent was his nudity. So, why would God make him remain in his birthday suit even though he was the ruler of the earth?
Adam happens to be God’s cynosure of the creationism. He was created to become the paramount personality among all intelligent beings of creation. Adam would rule as God’s viceroy. For every living entity must experience biological growth, Adam must be made to journey through natural course of the life of intelligence. God’s omniscience does not require probationary discipline of an individual to determine the subject’s eligibility. But the gospel truth is simply that, for the sake of Adamic future suitability, he must be made to face probation. He must experience humility; though he was not a baby, he needed to go through the natural days of humbling infancy. To come forth as gold goes a trial ere it.
Adam’s nakedness was not the negativity of undignified person. How is this fact true? The Bible states categorically, “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 2:25). ‘Naked’ is the Hebrew ‛ârôm (aw-rome’): ‘nude (total, in this context).’ And the Hebraic bûsh (boosh) is ‘ashamed’ which means: ‘To put to shame, be ashamed, be disconcerted, be disappointed (by reason of).’ When it says, “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: (Genesis 3:8) it points out the fact that the LORD God walked through Eden every evening, when consideration is given to the Hebrew word for ‘walking’, hâlak (haw-lak’) meaning: ‘to go, come, depart, proceed, move, go away, to die, live, manner of life (figuratively).’ Manner of life is lifestyle.
It was the manner of God to commune with the sinless couple every evening. What I am trying to explain here is that, they saw the LORD God everyday. Did God ever walk into Eden Garden naked? He would never have done that. Could that not have ignited a feeling of disappointment, seeing their Creator well garbed in magnificence, in comparison to their stark nakedness? Some are likely to argue that, “Well, they were few days old so, like infants, nakedness couldn’t touch off disconcertment in them.” That cannot be true, scripturally. The Bible makes it, “and were not ashamed,” perspicuous enough. They were living a most distingué life in Eden even though in their apparent stark nakedness. Let us allow a logical perception concerning this Eden nakedness. In those early Adamic days, the man and the woman of Eden were the only ones engaged in coupledom in the entire world. The Eden home can be likened to an enclosed room. Who sees you in your enclosed bedroom?
Sinless first couple: Adam and his wife
Their nakedness is somewhat a blessing in disguise. If nakedness is tantamount to innocence, then it was expedient to allow forgiveness for the missing of the spiritual mark. After all, they were still in their days of Adamic innocence! God, our LORD, is so good!
God factored forgiveness into their creation, quite unbeknown to Lucifer. I believe that after the decided period of probation, if Adam had successfully maintained his sinless life, the LORD God would have come as He was wont to. In His hands of Divinity would have been clothes, clothes much better than that of angels, and presented to Adam and his wife to be worn from that day, after the probation, onwards.
Getting born again is a conscious effort on the part of an individual. Get born again. Say this sinner’s prayer.
“Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!”
