I Will Give You Rest (Revisited) Part 3

3)            Isaiah 48:17-18 “Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. 18) O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:” undoubtedly leads us to Jesus. He tells us in Matthew 11:28-29 to come to Him; take His yoke; learn of Him and come to rest everlasting. But disturbing to the mind is the labyrinthine act of the Jewish nation which apostatized, breaking the covenant Jehovah went into with them. What Israel, who should know better, lost, the Gentile nation, through Christianity, gained to the glory of the Most High.

2Thessalonians 1:7-10 7) “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8) In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10) When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” This is perfection of assurance that the believers, albeit, troubled, will experience perfect rest for their souls, even when unbelievers are punished for disbelieving the gospel of reconciliation brought by Jesus and spread by His mystical body, the Christians.

Hebrews 4:1-11 1) “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2) For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3) For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4) For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5) And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. 6) Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: 7) Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8) For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9) There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

The first time of biblical reference to rest is the seventh day of recreationism, when God had finished His work. Genesis 2:2-3 2) “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” The same Jehovah God, on Mount Sinai, spoke face to face (if you would) with Israel, as concerning the Sabbath day in Exodus 20:10 “But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:” to prove to them that Mosaic couch of Genesis 2:2-3 is true.

One day Jesus and His disciples went into a cornfield, on religious no-work day, and plucked corns and ate it. They brought the Law of Moses to His charge: for the Pharisaical dominance of the Law knew not Whom they queried; Jesus conclusively told them in Matthew 12:8 “For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” An unveiling of the Entity of Genesis 2:2-3 was established when Jesus made the pronouncement of the above verse. Is there another way to authenticate His Deity? Jesus Christ is, in all veridicality, the Jehovah God, the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. He is the Author of rest, salvation and the Maintainer of these things from everlasting to all eternity to come. Amen.

Jesus will give you rest only if you will receive His life. Get born again. Say this simple prayer:
