HE IS IN FULL CONTROL (Part three)
(…continued from part two…)
3) “And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one” [Exodus 9:6]. In several ways, Egypt lost, when this plague came upon it. It caused heavy loss of sources of food. Money realised from cattle businesses went kaput. Egypt’s religious reverence of the bull was rendered irrelevant. More pollution destroyed the lives of Godless Egypt.
“And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt” [Exodus 9:9]. Why would God employ the use of ashes to punish and assert His domination? Ashes are synonymous to humility. Pharaoh’s procacity earned him disgrace, excruciating pain and ill-health. “And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field” [Exodus 9:25]. A miracle within a miracle! The fire of the thunder was not smouldered neither was the hail melted.
A grievous combination of miraculous wonder was the comeuppance of the disbelieving hardened heart of Pharaoh. “For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt” [Exodus 10:15]. The LORD God brought prosperity to Egypt because His children were about to be part of her. Disobedience to the LORD God is such an evil resulting in comeuppance of catastrophic cataclysm. Pharaoh asked for it, just the same way the world would ask for an equal devastation in the eschatological evil rule of the Antichrist.
Egyptian otiose deity
Exodus 10:23, “They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” A similar phenomenon was actually playing out in Abraham’s Bosom between those who slept in the LORD and the wicked dead. Seeing not one another, in the Egypt land of Pharaoh, is indicative of total confusion. In Goshen, there was light! A slightest stroll away from God is a plunge into pitch darkness of Satanism. Satan is the first to experience the gloom of dark ignorance and into it his fellow disobedient beings go. Amen. “And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts” [Exodus 11:5].
Dagon, water deity, couldn’t help Pharaoh.
Sinfulness is a contagion. A languorous effort to renew the mind is a blatant refusal to heed God’s call to repentance. It is as evil as deciding to tow the inglorious path of the progenitor of the antediluvian miscreants. Cain was the first born human ever to come through biological parturition. Cain’s procacious act was reenacted by Pharaoh. His (Cain) spiritual demise led him to his eventual physical death. His progeny died in the great deluge for dishonouring God’s word (likened to water); no wonder Pharaoh perished in the fluidity of liquid ocean. His will, even the will of God, is in full control. His will is not a created phenomenon. His will is His Word: a Personage –Jesus Christ— the Lord of glory. The verity of His absolute control is irrefragable.
It was important to establish His full control when He instructed Moses in Exodus 30:6, “And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.” Without Him Israel would have gone into extinction. As long as man’s existence features His holy presence of Divine control, the concept of Emmanuel is a truism.
Man has always been a bad manager of his life. Let God be in control of your life for proper management. Get born again. Say this prayer, meaning it:
“Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!”
