6)            Now let us look at the word ‘covenant’; it is the Hebrew berı̂yth (ber-eeth’) meaning: ‘1. alliance, pledge, agreement (man to man) or between God and man. 2. (in the sense of cutting) a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh).’ The second definition leads us to the account of the covenant God entered into with Abraham in Gen 15:17-18 “And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. 18) In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:” which makes one wonder why Damina and Oyakhilome must teach that God does not have any covenant with man – as if Abraham is not a man.

Again God told Noah who led Adamic creatures from the antediluvian age to the postdiluvian era, “And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you” (Genesis 9:9); and the said seed after him are his Adamic progenies. And when Divine scrutiny found Abraham trustworthy, the Mosaic account, as God revealed to him in Genesis 17:1-5 reads, 1) “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2) And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3) And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4) As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5) Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.”  What Bibles do these people (Abel Damina and Chris Oyakhilome) read? They teach that God never had any covenant with man.

This cup is the New Testament in my blood

                These are some of the verses of Genesis chapter 17 which concluded Divine discourse of agreement with Abraham: 10) “This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. 11) And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. 19) And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. 21) But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. 22) And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.”

                Sitting at the table with the disciples, “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). The Lord Jesus said this to His disciples to establish the New Testament or Covenant with mankind through the Church, the mystical body of Christ. The next verse reads, “Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you” (Luke 22:20). The word ‘testament’ is diathēkē (dee-ath-ay’-kay): ‘properly a disposition, that is, (specifically) a contract (especially a devisory will); arrangement, of any sort, which one wishes to be valid, compact, covenant.’

God made a covenant with Jacob (Genesis 28:12-15).

                Something must be put straight. Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and the disciples of Jesus, were they intelligent beings of history? There is no smidgeon of doubt that they did live, once upon a time, here on terra firma; they also encountered the rapprochement of Divinity –Person to person. This is another historical encounter with the LORD God of Israel. Genesis 28:12-15 12) “And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13) And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14) And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15) And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.” God being the Keeper of covenant, He must show Himself to the last of the three patriarchs of Israel to validate the personal covenant He had entered with man; and Jacob woke up from his sleep; holding the patriarchal baton of the covenant between God and man. Amen!

Get born again by saying this simple prayer.

“Dear heavenly Father, I come to You now in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and I receive Him now as my Lord and my Saviour. I give God all the glory. Amen!”
