The three teenage Jews were rather afraid of losing face with the LORD, their God. When you walk the faith walk with the LORD, it translates to spiritual maturity, awakening a true sense knowledge of the Most High Jehovah. Yoruba proverb says, “Ojú t’ó r’ókun, t’ó r’ósà, kò lè bèrù omí kéékèké” literally meaning “The eye that has beheld the ocean and big lagoon will not be afraid of small streams.” The knowledge of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego of the Eternal God of Israel was so profound that they were very contented with whatever He decided to do with their stand as they remained standing before the dreaded king Nebuchadnezzar. Cast your lots with the LORD God, with Whom alone one can put all eggs in one basket and none will be lost. An explicit unalloyed faith in the LORD God is most profitable as the Bible reveals in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” The faith of very young Jews humbled king Nebuchadnezzar, who had no choice but to promote them. They were elevated above their detractors. They became epistles to be read. Their exploits attracted others to follow the true Saviour, Jesus Christ. Nebuchadnezzar chose to tread upon the route of religious persecution. He did not know that it was a terrible choice to dragoon the sworn children of Israel into his idolatrous dream. The LORD our God is a responsible Father; He is the Man of war. He will never allow his children to be consumed. God did not put the idolatrous sculpture of the sixty-cubit high idol of gold into the head of the king of Babylon. It was his choice. Nebuchadnezzar behaved true to a blind religious fanatic totally suffering from power inebriation. An enraged Nebuchadnezzar was terribly splenetic when three teenage Jews refused to worship the image of his invention. The joint faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego invoked the LORD God of Israel to see to their predicament. They knew God was bigger than all mankind’s problems. They remembered that the LORD God of the Bible had promised, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee” (Deuteronomy 31:6). I do understand that we have different theological beliefs based on the didactic stance of individual’s religion of profession. I cannot be unwise enough to force my biblical orientation on anybody. Anyone, as free moral agent, has the volitional will to embrace any spiritual way of life. But it should, I understand, be known that anyone who jettisons the teachings of the Bible definitely does it at his own peril. Selah! If God’s protocolary documentation disciplines us to understand that “by their fruits ye shall know them”, the prophet of Ahura Mazda has evidently shown a marked distinction between Jehovah and Ahura Mazda. Ahura Mazda, the wise lord, albeit, all-wise this god worshipped by Xerses of Babylon lacks the quiddity of the Omnipotent Jehovah Jesus. It took eternality of power to have wrought the soteriology. One of the comforting things about God is His remembering stance. In Genesis 8:1 God remembered Noah and the living things of the ark, and made sure they came out to live their normal lives again. In Genesis 19:29, God remembered what His conversation with Abraham concluded on and saved Lot in the annihilation of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Genesis 30:22 God remembered Rachel, who had been barren for some years. In the Book of Exodus 2:24 God heard the cries of Israel when they wallowed in Egyptian bondage, because He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God did not forget His promise to Sarah.
